Carolyn Jessop's Escape Memoir is a gripping and inspiring account of her harrowing journey to freedom from the clutches of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (FLDS).

Born into a polygamous family in Colorado City, Arizona, Carolyn was raised in a world of strict religious rules and oppressive social norms. As a young girl, she was forced into an arranged marriage with a much older man, and she spent years living in fear and isolation.

But Carolyn refused to give up hope. With the help of a few courageous individuals, she began to secretly plan her escape. In 2003, she finally succeeded in fleeing the FLDS compound with her eight children.

Carolyn's story is a testament to the power of resilience and the indomitable spirit of the human soul. It is a story of survival, hope, and the triumph of good over evil.

Carolyn Jessop's Early Life

Carolyn Jessop was born in Colorado City, Arizona, on June 22, 1966. Her parents, Merril and Marilyn Jessop, were members of the FLDS Church, a fundamentalist sect that broke away from the mainstream Mormon Church in the early 1900s.

Carolyn was raised in a world of strict religious rules and oppressive social norms. She was taught that women were subservient to men, and that polygamy was a sacred principle. She also learned to fear outsiders, who were seen as a threat to the FLDS community.

At the age of 18, Carolyn was forced into an arranged marriage with Merril Jessop, a much older man who was already married to several other women. Carolyn was terrified of her new husband, and she spent years living in fear and isolation.

Carolyn Jessop's Escape from the FLDS Church

Despite the challenges she faced, Carolyn refused to give up hope. She began to secretly plan her escape from the FLDS compound. She knew that it would be a dangerous endeavor, but she was determined to find freedom for herself and her children.

In 2003, Carolyn finally succeeded in fleeing the FLDS compound with her eight children. She sought refuge at a local women's shelter, and she eventually testified against her former husband in court. Merril Jessop was convicted of sexual assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Carolyn Jessop's Life After the FLDS Church

Since leaving the FLDS Church, Carolyn Jessop has become a vocal advocate for victims of religious abuse. She has written a book about her experiences, and she frequently speaks to groups about the dangers of fundamentalism.

Carolyn's story is a testament to the power of resilience and the indomitable spirit of the human soul. It is a story of survival, hope, and the triumph of good over evil.

Carolyn Jessop's Escape Memoir is a powerful and inspiring story that will stay with you long after you finish reading it. It is a story that will make you angry, sad, and hopeful all at the same time. But most importantly, it is a story that will remind you that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope.
